Lesya Ukrainka (real name Larysa Kosach), a poet and writer, was born on February 25, 1871 in Novohrad-Volynskyi.

Ivan Yakovlevich Franko in 1898 in one of his articles notes: "From the moment of Shevchenko" Bury and get up, break the shackles "Ukraine has not heard such a strong, hot and poetic word ..."

Some singers have fame after death, others during life. But it is not crowned with rose petals, but with thorns. The poetess's dawn was bright, and only dimmed from illness. The girl ached with her heart and soul for the fate of Ukraine.

As God gave the Ukrainians a song, so he endowed the girl with a song-word. And she bore this word with tenderness, now menacingly, now affectionately, now with pain and tears, now with laughter.
