Pysanka is an egg decorated with traditional symbols written using wax and dyes.

Pysanka in Ukraine was and remains closely connected with religious rites on Easter. But during the Soviet period pysankarstvo was actually banned. But the tradition continued to live and develop among Ukrainians in Canada and the USA. Ukrainian emigrants published stamps and magazines, promoted their national art.
Each region of Ukraine has its own traditional painting.
In Hutsul Region, the patterns are very detailed and subtle, while in Kyiv Region and Cherkasy Region, the pattern occupies most of the space of the pysanka
