The Trypillian culture was discovered by Vikentiy Khvoyka, a Ukrainian archaeologist of Czech origin, in 1896 during excavations near the village of Trypillia in the Kyiv region. Sensational finds of painted pottery and remains of dwellings confirmed the existence of a developed Eneolithic culture dating from the 6th to 3rd millennia BCE on the territory of Ukraine.

The Trypillian culture serves as proof that Ukraine, as an inhabited territory, has its own unique history stretching back centuries. This refutes narratives about a “shared cradle” with the Russians and underscores our distinct historical trajectory.
