Booklet with stamps “City of Heroes. Mariupol” 2025

On March 16, 2022, a Russian plane dropped two high-powered bombs on the Donetsk Academic Regional Drama Theater in Mariupol, where more than a thousand civilians, including women and children, were hiding from the shelling. On the square in front of the theater, a warning sign read “CHILDREN” in large letters. But this did not stop the Russian killers. As a result of the strikes, a large number of people died under the rubble of the building.

To honor the memory of the victims of the terrorist attack and all those who selflessly defended the city from the invaders, Ukrposhta presents the postal issue “City of Heroes. Mariupol”. The postage stamps of the issue are covered with particles of steel produced at Azovstal Iron and Steel Works, which has become a real outpost of the city since the beginning of the large-scale war. The thermography technology was used for the first time on Ukrainian postage stamps, which was made possible by Ukrposhta's cooperation with Cartor Security Printers (France), a leading global printing services company.

The booklet includes a postal sheet “City of Heroes. Mariupol”, a ‘First Day’ envelope with a stamp and a special redemption, a card, and an unmarked artistic envelope. The back of the booklet contains a description of the issue in Ukrainian and English.
The stamp was designed by Oleh Shuplyak; the card and KPD were designed by Viktoriia Anikienko; the photo on the NHC was taken by Yevhen Sosnovskyi.
