Kyiv funicular connects the historic Upper Town and Podil.
It runs along the slope of Volodymyrska Hill. The line consists of two stations and is operated by the Kyivpastrans utility company.
Built between 1902 and 1905, it is the second funicular in Ukraine after the Odesa funicular.
The funicular was considered a tram route and had a number until the mid-1930s.
On March 22-25, 2013, during a snowfall that was a record for the last 100 years of observation, the funicular was used as a ski and snowboard lift from Volodymyrska Hill and Andriyivskyi Descent.
