The Defender of the Fatherland Medal is a state award of Ukraine for honoring war veterans, family members of deceased war veterans, family members of deceased (deceased) Defenders of Ukraine, persons who participated in the liberation of Ukraine from Nazi invaders, and other citizens of Ukraine for their personal courage and bravery in defending the state's interests and strengthening the defense capability and security of Ukraine.
