Maria Prymachenko was a Ukrainian folk artist who worked in the style of “naive art.”

The artist created unique paintings that combine Ukrainian fairy tales, legends, and folklore with her own imagination. Her canvases depict fairy-tale animals, fantastic flowers, and scenes from rural life.

During her lifetime, she created over 650 paintings, which are now kept in famous galleries around the world. Her work has been a source of inspiration for many artists and even fashion designers. For example, in 2009, a clothing collection was created based on her works.

A folk artist of Ukraine, in whose honor minor planet 14624 was named. She received prestigious titles during her lifetime—fairly and deservedly so, for her amazing, fairy-tale vision of the world. At the same time, she did not live like a “distinguished” person – she spent all 88 years of her life in her native village of Bolotnya in the Kyiv region, without any special privileges or luxurious conditions.
