Postal sheet U "Sheet "Eternal memory!" 2023

On August 29, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Remembrance of the Fallen Defenders of Ukraine. This date is set to honor the memory of military personnel and members of volunteer formations who gave their lives for the Motherland, as a reminder of one of the bloodiest events of the Russian-Ukrainian war in the east of the country - the Ilovai tragedy. The "green corridor" that was deadly for our defenders then ran through fields of sunflowers, so the symbol of the Day of Remembrance of the fallen defenders of Ukraine became a sunflower flower. The large-scale invasion of Russia on February 24, 2022 caused a new wave of heroism, resilience of the defenders of Ukraine and, unfortunately, painful losses. Our memory of them is bright, our gratitude to them is boundless, our respect is the highest. We remember and will remember! The work of Honored Artist of Ukraine Oleg Shupliak "Zhurba" (2016) was used as a sketch for the postage stamp dedicated to Memorial Day.
