Mountain Lake (also known as Dead Lake) is a picturesque mountain lake of natural origin in the Ukrainian Carpathians (Skoliv Beskydy massif). Located within the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
The lake is elongated in shape, about 70 meters long. It was formed on one of the left tributaries of the Ozhra stream, at an altitude of 785 meters above sea level among a ripe spruce-beech forest, and is rare and unique for the nature of the Skoli Beskydy. The water in the lake is transparent, but due to the high saturation with hydrogen sulfide, higher living organisms were absent in it, which is why the lake has another name - Dead Lake; there are many wetlands along the shore.
You can have a good rest here, but if you decide to swim, you need to be very careful - the depth of the lake reaches 18 meters. From the lake, along the stream flowing from it, a road (4 km - 1.5 hours walk) leads down to the village of Bukovets.
