The postal issue is dedicated to Eurovision 2017 — the 62nd song contest, which took place in Kyiv from May 7 to 13, 2017. Ukraine won the right to host it thanks to the victory of Ukrainian singer Jamala. Respect diversity (Diversity) became the slogan of the contest, and its logo features an image of a Ukrainian necklace combined with various elements. In the context of Eurovision, all this symbolizes the uniqueness of each person, their personality, combined with a love of music.
In 2016, Jamala (Susana Alimivna Jamaladinova) won the 61st Eurovision Song Contest, held in the Swedish capital Stockholm, with her original song “1944,” dedicated to the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people.
In May 2017, Jamala also took part in the 62nd Eurovision Song Contest. In the first semi-final, she presented a symphonic version of the song “1944”, which became the soundtrack to the film “Someone Else's Prayer” by Ukrainian director and actor of Crimean Tatar origin Akhtem Seitablaev, and sang “Zamanili”, and in the final, she sang the song “I Believe in U,” which she dedicated to Ukraine.
