The word "Bereginya" has its roots in ancient Slavic mythology.
According to one hypothesis, it is associated with the Slavic word "bereg", i.e. Coast. And Bereginya is the spirit of the rivers associated with mermaids.
according to another version, this word has the meaning of “protect”.
Perhaps the word "Bereginya" comes from the ancient Greek word "land".
In Ukraine, this word is often associated with the concepts of "Mother" and "Home", referring to traditional female roles.
